Pythagorean Theorem Tutorial :
$$\text{A}^2\;+\;\text{B}^2\;=\;\text{C}^2$$
- A shows Perpendicular.
- B shows Base.
- C shows Hypotenuse.
Example-1 :
Find length of hypotenuse? If length of Perpendicular is 3 and Base is 4.
Solution :
$$\text{C}^2\;=\;\text{A}^2\;+\;\text{B}^2$$
$$\text{C}^2\;=\;3^2\;+\;4^2$$
$$\text{C}^2\;=\;9\;+\;16$$
$$\text{C}^2\;=\;25$$
$$\text{C}\;=\;5$$
Example-2 :
Find length of Base?If length of Perpendicular is 5 and Hypotenuse is 6.
Solution :
$$\text{C}^2\;=\;\text{A}^2\;+\;\text{B}^2$$
$$\text{6}^2\;=\;\text{5}^2\;+\;\text{B}^2$$
$$36\;=\;25\;+\;\text{B}^2$$
$$\text{B}^2\;=\;36\;-\;25$$
$$\text{B}^2\;=\;11$$
$$\text{B}\;=\;\sqrt{11}$$
